How to Turn One Piece of Content into Multiple Assets

In today’s fast-paced digital world, maximizing the value of your content is crucial. I used to sit in wonder… How the hell did solo-prenuers and small business owners keep up a consistent online presence? I just didn’t have the time. For so many years of being in business, I kind of ignored it until I noticed that many people I followed (and admired) were repurposing content. Why didn’t I think of that? Not only does this save time, I found out later that it also amplifies reach and engagement. Let’s talk about ways to turn one piece of content into multiple content assets…

Now, this isn’t a secret, it’s in fact, really simple. But I’m about to share what I’ve learned over the years with you – after all, content is king and it’s growing. Here’s a step-by-step guide to transforming a single piece of content into multiple valuable assets.

1. Start with a Core Piece of Content

Begin with a comprehensive piece of content, such as a long-form blog post, webinar, or eBook. I pick a theme to focus on each week – this keeps me focused and gives me something to write about. This core content should be rich in information and insights, serving as a foundation for various repurposed formats.

2. Create Summary Graphics

Break down the core content into digestible parts. Design summary graphics or infographics highlighting key points or statistics. Use emojis, GIFs, images, and short videos. Visuals are perfect for sharing on social media platforms like Instagram, LinkedIn, or Pinterest (TikTok too).

3. Develop Short-Form Content

Extract key insights and create shorter content pieces. This is so useful – I see things that limit text (such as tweets) as being a challenge now. You’re basically feeding your audience snippets. Key insights could include:

  • Social Media Posts: Share bite-sized quotes, tips, or interesting facts.
  • Tweets: Condense the content into impactful, tweetable nuggets.
  • Status Updates: Craft engaging updates for platforms like Facebook or LinkedIn.

4. Produce Audio Content

Turn your written content into audio formats to reach a different audience. Courses work well or voice notes with slides too. Also consider:

  • Podcasts: Record an episode discussing the main points.
  • Audiobooks: Create an audiobook version if the content is extensive.

5. Create Video Content

Transform your content into engaging video formats and post on Insta, TikTok, or YouTube. This could involve:

  • Explainer Videos: Summarize the content in a short, informative video.
  • Webinars: Host a live session or a recorded webinar discussing the content in detail.

6. Develop Interactive Content

Repurpose content into interactive formats to increase engagement:

  • Quizzes: Create quizzes based on the content to test knowledge.
  • Interactive PDFs: Design PDFs with clickable elements or embedded media.

7. Compile into New Formats

Take various elements from the original content and compile them into new assets (including cheat sheets, guides, playbooks, resources etc…):

  • EBooks: Combine multiple posts or articles into a comprehensive eBook.
  • Whitepapers: Develop in-depth whitepapers using detailed content sections.

8. Update and Refresh

Periodically revisit your repurposed content to update and refresh it. This ensures that your assets remain relevant and valuable over time.

Repurposing content allows you to extend the life of your ideas and reach different audiences in varied formats. By turning one piece of content into multiple assets, you can enhance your visibility, save time, and maintain a consistent presence across platforms.

It’s a win-win situation!
